Through this system, GPs nationwide can access information about your medical history, including discharge summaries, shared health summaries, event summaries, Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) and Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) information, specialist letters, prescriptions and dispending records. This means that if you have had to see a different GP to your usual GP (for example you see a GP while on holidays interstate), that GP will be able to see your medical history without relying on your memory.
